While REWA is responsible for sending Physiotherapist volunteers from all over the world particularly from Germany, KASCO provides the local logistics support for its field activities in Kargil and Zanskar. We have also identified three local girls and two boys, who work with the volunteers on field and are doing hands on learning to treat the children in need. The local staff is also given classroom lessons on the subject of physiotherapy. The training is given to build the capacity locally so that the organization is self-sustained in the future.

Until so far, REWA NA KASCO has been doing home visits to the various villages in Kargil and Zanskar along with our technical volunteers, doctors and the local staff, taking just a few patients each day. But this model has some draw backs as it consumes lot of time and we are not able to treat a lot of children.

With this challenge in mind, we have setup a rehabilitation centre in our new campus at Bemathang. We want to make MHMS as the main centre for differently-abled children. Through this, we are admitting children from different villages and neighboring schools to the centre itself and treat them fifive days a week rather than just one day a week. We have already started introducing some of the children, whom we have been treating so far, into the school along with the regular students Our aim is to now champion this cause and create a well established institution to help these differently-abled children in every village of Kargil and Zanskar.
